Los Angeles Cathedral of Our Lady
Text from the shrine: Lalo Garcia, born in Mexico, is an esteemed local artist who created the existing Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The above rendering shows Lalo's vision to expand and complete the existing shrine and truly honor the Virgin Mother and the Apparitions. There are many planned additions that will complement the Shrine: beautiful, colorful Talavera tilework, including the five additional Apparitions; climbing roses that will spill over the top of the wall; built-in carved stone candle stands; and educational materials illustrating the story and history of St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. As the Patroness of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe inspires us, both spiritually and culturally. Her appearance to St. Juan Diego and the Miracle of the Tilma is an important part of the Roman Catholic faith and the history of the Americas (text as of 2/2006).
