Hanns Scharff (1907 - 1989), born in Germany, received his art training in Leipzig. In 1948, Scharff immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. After moving to Los Angeles in 1956, he completed projects at the California State Capitol in Sacramento and at Disney World and Epcot in Orlando, Florida. Scharff's other work in Los Angeles can be seen at numerous Baptist churches, the Braille Institute and in fountains at UCLA.
