Bruce Nauman (1941- ) was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He received his B.S. at the University of Wisconsin in 1964 and an M.F.A. from UC Davis in 1966. He lived in Pasadena and became one of the important artists who helped establish the reputation of Los Angeles as an important art center. As early as 1973, he was the subject of a retrospective organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art that traveled to museums in the United States and Europe. His works are in the collections of important museums throughout the world. His works encompass a wide range of media and often include a refreshing political comment.
