Robert Rauschenberg

Biographical Information

Robert Rauschenberg (1925 - ) was born in Port Arthur, Texas. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and with Josef Albers at Black Mountain College in North Carolina. His career has included important collaborations with composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham. His works have been exhibited in numerous solo shows in museums and galleries, and are in the collections of the major museums of the world. Among his many awards was winning the prestigious Venice Biennale in 1964.(1)
