East Los Streetscapers

Biographical Information

East Los Streetscapers was formed in 1975 by Wayne Healy (1946 - ) and David Botello ( 1946 - ). Each grew up in East Los Angeles, where political events in the 1960s stimulated their commitment to execute socially and culturally relevant public art. Their public murals reflect different themes, but are united by a unique narrative quality that expresses a sensitivity to history and a sense of place. Other works of theirs can be seen at the Gateway Center, the Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School and the Haddon Avenue School.
