Ella Yee Quan, (educator):

Ella Yee Quan (1926- ) is an active community leader and was a highly regarded educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District prior to her retirement in 1989. After working as a nurse's aide and typist, she returned to college in the late 1950s. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from California State University at Los Angeles, her teaching and administration credentials from Mt. St. Mary's College and her bilingual credential from U.S.C. Employed for 25 years by the Los Angeles Unified School District, Quan was a teacher and principal, and also developed bilingual materials for immigrants from Asia. Quan has been active in numerous community, civic, educational and cultural groups, including the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California, which she helped found and later served as its president.
