Burt William Johnson

Biographical Information

Burt William Johnson (1890 - 1927) was born in Flint, Ohio. He moved to California at age 17, attended Pomona College and later studied at the Art Students League in New York. In addition to executing sculpture for private garden fountains, Johnson executed public pieces, including a soldiers monument in Woodside, New York, a fountain figure for Mabel Shaw Bridges Hall of Music at Claremont College, and the "Pomona War Memorial," which is considered his best work.
