Esperanza Garden

Background Information

1996, Adam Leventhal. SW Corner of Hope Street and Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Primarily funded by a $24,225 grant from the Downtown Cultural Trust Fund of the Community Redevelopment Agency with supplemental support from the 1010 Development Corporation, the garden was developed using recycled and reclaimed materials on an unused plot of land. Common Group provided initial advice on planting, layout and administration of the site. Individual plots were offered to residents in downtown for growing either flowers or vegetables. Management of the park, established to insure the garden could financially maintain itself, is overseen by The Los Angeles Conservation Corp.
