Woods Davy (1949 - ), born in Washington, D.C., received his B.F.A. from the Univeristy of North Carolina in 1972 and his M.F.A. from the University of Illinois in 1975. Davy has received many public art commissions since moving to Los Angeles in 1979. In addition to large-scale pieces for the I.B.M. facility in Gaithersberg, Maryland, Xerox Corporation in New York City and the Sterling Research Group in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, his public sculpture has been installed locally at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Security Pacific Bank Plaza on Bunker Hill, the University of Southern California, Little Tokyo, and Cedars Sinai Hospital. Davy is also a studio artist with numerous solo and group exhibitions.
