Michihiro Kosuge (1943 - ) was born in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the Tokyo Sumida Technical School of Architecture with an Associate Degree in architecture in 1961. After moving to the United States in 1965, he attended the University of California, Berkeley, and later the San Francisco Art Institute, where he received an MFA in sculpture in 1970. Kosuge has been a professor of art at Portland State University since 1978, and has been a visiting artist at other schools, including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His numerous solo shows have primarily been at galleries in Washington and Oregon.
