Takeo Uesugi (1940 - ) was born in Osaka. After receiving an M.L.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, he obtained a Ph.D. in landscape architecture from Kyoto University in 1981. He designed the Japanese garden In Balboa Park in San Diego, the landscaping at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center and has been responsible for other public as well as private projects in Southern California. Uesugi has been a full professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona since 1982 and has his own design firm, T.U.A.
