Biographical Information
James Surls (1943 - ) was born in Terrell, Texas. After graduating from Sam Houston State College, he received his M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His works, which are in a variety of media, have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows at galleries and museums and are in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and the Fort Worth Art Museum.
Robert Creeley (1926 - ) received his B.A. from Black Mountain College in 1954 and his M.A. from the University of New Mexico in 1960. He has taught at the University of British Columbia, San Francisco State College, the University of New Mexico and the State University of New York at Buffalo. In addition, he has lectured at the world's greatest universities, including U.C. Berkeley, Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale. In addition to collections of poetry, he has published fiction, criticism and has edited books on poetry and literature. He has also received numerous awards and fellowships, including a Fulbright, and a Guggenheim.
