Temporary Construction Mural

Aaron De La Cruz

La Brea Avenue around Third Street and Melrose.

The following text is from the temporary construction mural: "La brea features eleven buildings being restored and transformed to host a complimentary mix of retail, dining and creative offices for 2011. Architects from Long Beach based Studio One Eleven are restoring and modernizing the property, highlighting each building's unique characteristics including wood truss ceilings, exposed brick and steel beams. Beyond just restoring, La Brea is building on the heritage of these buildings and the community. The site of an Edsel Automobile dealership in the 1950s, the buildings were later headquarters to one of LA's premier printing shops: Continental Graphics Corporation. Today the neighborhood hosts an eclectic mix of showrooms, galleries and retailers with long histories on La Brea avenue including American Rag, Undefeated, La Brea Baker and Pink's Hot Dogs. We are carefully curating the La Brea experience to build on its history, inviting an eclectic mix of regional and local retailer and dining brands to put down roots. This mural installation was created by Aaron De La Cruz."
