Text from the sculpture plaque: This sculpture pays homage to La Ballona Creek, a primary natural element in Culver City and an essential factor in the settling of this locale by the Native Americans and the Spanish. Like a precious vessel, the banks of this creek contained mountain water and ocean breezes and soothed and nourished the life of its people.
